Claire is sitting on the porch. She is confused about the airline's role in the conspiracy. Arkin tells Claire the pilot was not right in the mind to fly the plane. He was going through stress attributed to personal problems. His action on that unfortunate day caused a plane crash, killing everyone onboard the plane.
Claire refuses to believe Arkin. She feels Arkin is trying to smear a deceased pilot who is unable to defend himself. Arkin admits that he is the pilot. He tells Claire to inspect the flight passenger list.
Claire discovers that she was a passenger on a doomed flight that killed all passengers. There is no airline conspiracy because no survivors lived to tell the tale. The beginning of the movie followed the few passengers that were stuck between the physical and the afterworld.
Arkin is socializing with a few flight attendants. Claire and Eric meet. The two instantly bond. The plane's wing catches fire, causing the plane to sway. Arkin rushes back into the cockpit.
The side panel of the plane breaks apart. A passenger seat detaches and flies out. Eric calms Claire. She sees herself with Eric, a life that could've been something magical. Claire and Eric sail on a boat with a calm breeze and a soft sun steering their romantic moment. The plane crash ends their dream, goals and future life together.
Claire talks with Eric about the revelation. He shares that his childhood dog and another family member came to guide him to the light. Claire's teacher and aunt represent her Angels.
In the falling action, Claire's sister and husband enter her apartment. The sister searches the apartment. On a piece of paper, Claire wrote a touching message, telling her sister that she loved her and she meant everything. The sister cries of happiness.
The two siblings had a falling out. Claire's sister feels at peace. She discover her sister left the world with love. The happy ending is one that stays with moviegoers.
