***Movie Spoilers***

We see a young girl murder her parents. It resembles the types of murders we see in house possession movies. The actual killer is not Carrie Anne. Carrie died on the swings as a child. Ryan is forced to become Carrie Anne, a gender reversal that frustrates him.

Eventually, the emotional abuse makes Ryan snap. He murders his parents to end the pain. Ryan kidnaps young women to fill the Carrie Anne void. He needs Carrie Anne to keep sane.
